Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This has been a crazy busy week  – my kids get out of school for the summer next Wednesday (!) and we are neck-deep in all of the end of year stress/excitement. I was able to carve out just enough time to round up some of my favorite things from the week, though, and join ErikaAndrea and Narci for their weekly Friday Favorites link party. Hope you enjoy!

I have to say that my favorite day of the week was – no surprise here – Mother’s Day! I was treated to delicious homemade waffles with a yummy blueberry sauce for breakfast, and then we all got outside to enjoy the gorgeous morning and went on a family hike. I was able to sneak in a little nap when we got home (win!) and woke up to a tasty lunch that my daughter had made for me. On top of all that, my husband brought home these beautiful flowers…

I love having fresh flowers on my kitchen island – they’re a favorite for sure!

Friday Favorites Two

Our neighborhood pool opened last weekend, so I’ve been trying to up my poolside wardrobe game a bit and find some new swimsuits and cover-ups. The hunt for a new swimsuit is still ongoing, but I did find these two cover-ups that I think are going to be new favorites for the summer! (I also love this one, but there’s going to have to be a really big sale before I pull the trigger!)

Favorite Things Three

In other shopping news, this outfit is a new favorite go-to for the warmer temperatures we’ve been having lately. I love the colorful, cold-shoulder top, and the white skinny jeans have just the right amount of stretch!

If you search “Coconut Oil” on Pinterest, it’s no secret that you get about a million and one results for all of the different ways to use it. My new favorite use for this miracle product is on my hair to help my poor, frizzled ends try to make it until my next trim. This is actually an idea I got from one of my good friends (Hi Whitney!) – in the morning after I wake up I pull my hair into a ponytail, slather the coconut oil on from about mid-ponytail down to the ends, and then wrap my hair into a bun. I leave it like this while I’m getting the kids off to school and during my morning run, and then shampoo it a few hours later. My hair looks so shiny and healthy afterwards – and a container of this is much more affordable than all of the expensive deep-conditioning treatments out there!

Favorite Things Five

Circling back to all of the end of year excitement that I mentioned at the beginning of this post, one of the things that we had going on this week was my daughter’s Track and Field Banquet. We were sitting way in the back, so we only managed to get one so-so picture of her, but I have to go ahead and give her a little shout-out here because she received a Varsity Letter at the ceremony. Not bad for a freshman! When hard work pays off, that’s a definite favorite!

About coconut oil… I have been recommending it to my friends for years. Obviously as you get older your hair can lose its healthy look and shine. Everyone has been amazed what it does for their hair and skin. It is great on the skin, but I don’t like to smell like coconut. You can put it on in the shower and then rinse before getting out. I like your cold shoulder top. For me it’s a way to look summery, but still cover my aging arms. My friend wears them for that same reason. A friend told her it’s way to risqué for someone her age to wear. Really! Way to go Katie. A varsity letter is very impressive! Hope she keeps up track. She’s obviously good!

Cold-shoulder tops too risqué? Never! That’s just silly 😉

I LOVE the cover up! So cute. Y’all Kristin is amazing! She doesn’t know me all that well and she put together an awesome travel wardrobe to get me to my destination in stile. Use her as a must for wardrobe help!

Super cute cover ups. Can’t wait to see the suit reveal. I love coconut oil. I mix it coffee Grounds and sea salt to make a body scrub out of it. Apparently it helps vanish cellulite! I’m not sure I’ve scrubbed my dimples away but my skin sure is soft!

Ooh…great idea on the body scrub! I’ll have to try that! Would be very helpful for bikini season! Speaking of bikinis, I think I found a winner…I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for commenting!
