A Mix and Match Guide to Packing for Europe
One of my sweet neighbors is heading off to Switzerland with her family in a few weeks, and she reached out to me recently looking for some wardrobe inspiration for the trip. I’m always happy to help with packing challenges because I totally understand the desire to look cute and stylish while traveling, balanced with trying to not overpack and the very real need for comfy feet!
The weather is going to be in the 50’s and 60’s while she is there, which means that layering will be key, and there’ll be lots of walking around – sightseeing, visiting museums, and doing some family-friendly hiking. For a trip like this, it’s all about mixing and matching to quickly put together different looks. Sticking primarily to a black and white color scheme (with a touch of color thrown in for fun) is an easy way to create lots of different outfits depending on the day’s activities. And to keep the feet happy, sneakers or ballet flats are a great choice for daytime touring, and dressy wedges at night will work better than heels on the cobblestone streets. Here are a few of my favorite combinations…

After putting together all of these outfits, now I want to go to Switzerland, too! (But I will settle for living vicariously through all of her pictures…) Are you heading anywhere exciting this summer? Even if you don’t have a trip to Europe planned, hopefully you can use this mix and match guide for some of your other trips. And if you’re going somewhere with warmer temperatures, just swap out the jeans and leggings for shorts and capris, and add in a great pair of sandals.
