Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends – hope you all had a great week! As usual, I’m joining ErikaAndrea and Narci  today for their Friday Favorites link-up party! Stop by their blogs and say hi if you get a chance. It’s been crazy busy around here lately, and I have lots to share, so let’s jump right in with my top five favorites of the week…

Fun neighbors who throw really cool parties is a definite favorite, and the Kentucky Derby party my husband and I went to on Saturday fits into that category perfectly. We all dressed the part  – ladies in our hats and gents in their bowties – and everyone had a blast. The night was filled with lots of yummy food, tasty cocktails, and of course, the most exciting two minutes in sports!

Friday Favorites TwoThe fun kept on going on Sunday, with a Girls’ Trip to the North Georgia Wine Trail hosted by one of our local wine shops. We visited three different wineries – Chateau Meichtry, Kaya Winery, and Yonah Mountain. Chateau Meichtry was my favorite, but all of them would be worth checking out if you live in the area or are ever visiting northern Georgia. We had a gorgeous day for touring around the countryside and the mountains make a beautiful setting for sitting down and enjoying a glass (or two) of wine!

Favorite Things Three
Okay, so this next favorite would have fit much better into last week’s Friday Favorites, seeing as how it was Cinco de Mayo and all. I missed the boat on that, but I stumbled upon this shirt when I was out shopping a few days ago and thought it was too funny not to share. Seriously considering buying it.

Friday Favorites FourThis silk pillowcase has been a favorite of mine for awhile now – it’s a complete game-changer in terms of combatting bed-head. My hair can get seriously wild overnight, so anything that helps me out in that department is a win in my book. And if you’ve ever woken up with a crease on your cheek from sleeping on a wrinkle on your pillowcase all night, this will completely prevent that dreaded occurrence. (It might be just the thing if you’re still trying to find a present for Mother’s Day that your mom might not splurge for on her own!)

Favorite Things FiveSpeaking of Mother’s Day, I love this coffee mug! I can appreciate it both as a daughter and as a mom…

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! And if you’re a mom, I hope you get spoiled on Sunday!

I am finally getting caught up on all the posts I’ve missed. I have to say I am very envious of the great neighborhood you live in. It has to be great to live somewhere where everyone wants to join in and have fun! Have to comment on the Chambray tops. I found a great off the shoulder at TJ Maxx yesterday. Striped chambray, So cute! It happened to be $79 which tells me it must be a good quality top. I almost bought it and then reminded myself the difficulty I have with the undergarment. I guess women of a certain age can’t go for the off the shoulder look which is unfortunate because my shoulders are a feature that still look good. So sad. Good read recommendation…Small Great Things by Jodi Piccoult. It’s our book club read for May and I’d highly recommend it.

Yes, off-the-shoulder tops can sometimes be challenging. Cold-shoulders are a good way to get the same look, but may be a bit more forgiving in the undergarment department! We read Small Great Things for our February book club here in the neighborhood- I loved it! I hear they are making a movie based on the book – the movies are never as good, but it’s always interesting to see the adaptation…

Love the Derby photos! The taco shirt is super funny. I think funny taco shirts are a thing right now as I am starting to see quite a few of them lately.

Hi Patty! Yes, there does seem to be a taco obsession going on right now! And I’m okay with that 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!
