I made my mom’s yummy fruit dip recipe for our neighborhood ladies’ night and it was a big hit. There were several recipe requests, so I thought I’d share it here, too, in case you’re looking for a new go-to crowd pleasing dish to bring to get togethers. The sweetness of the dip compliments that tartness of Granny Smith apples perfectly, but it also tastes great with strawberries, pineapple, or bananas. Try it. I know you’ll love it.
The UPS man dropped off a new pair of my absolute favorite running shoes this week and I’m in shoe heaven. I became a New Balance convert about this time last year when I was recovering from a foot injury, but desperate to get back into running. My old running shoes weren’t cutting it, so I gave their Fresh Foam 1080’s a try, and they were just the thing to make my feet happy again. Very supportive and comfy. I set a goal to run 500 miles by the end of the year (#500milesin2017 – if you want to join in!) and I’m looking forward to logging some miles in these guys. Reading is always a favorite for me, although it’s usually something I reserve for bedtime (unless I’m sitting on a beach on vacation somewhere – I can relax in the sand with a good book all day (in case you missed it, check out my top picks for spring break reading). For my neighborhood book club, we are reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt this month. One of the reasons I was excited to be part of a book club again was to find books that I wouldn’t normally gravitate to on my own. The Goldfinch is one of those books, and I have to say that I’m really enjoying the writing. I’m only about 100 pages in at this point, though, and right now the main character is suffering through a tragic loss – which is why I’ve started trying to carve out some time during the day to read. I need something light and happy before I fall asleep at night…I’m kind of wimpy that way. But I’m finding that starting my day with a good book and a cup of coffee instead of answering emails is actually kind of nice. A new favorite for sure.
Do you remember Seinfeld’s comedy routine about morning guy versus night guy? If not, here’s a short clip for your viewing pleasure. Watch and enjoy, and then we’ll reconvene.
So, this has been me lately. Although instead of being out partying until after midnight, I’m up doing exciting things like folding laundry, catching up on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and filling out field trip permission forms. The reasonable part of my brain knows that I should get into bed earlier because no matter what my alarm is going to go off at 6:30 in the morning, but night guy doesn’t always listen. For times like these, here’s what saves me from looking less like I belong on The Walking Dead and more like an actual living person:
Clinique’s All About Eyes De-Puffing Eye Massage Serum is what I reach for first thing in the morning when I’m getting the kids off to school. It helps eliminate any dark circles or puffiness, and then later in the morning when I’m applying make-up I use Bobbi Brown’s Corrector and Concealer to really even things out. I’m telling you, together these three favorites work absolute miracles.
Spring is trying really hard around here to fully bloom, and all of the pretty trees and longer days are a definite favorite. After a busy week, I’m looking forward to another favorite – some downtime with the family this weekend and hopefully getting outside to enjoy warmer temperatures!
