High Five for Friday
Hey there- we made it to the weekend! Today I’m excited to be linking up with Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, and Tif at Bright on a Budget for my first High Five for Friday! It’s been kind of busy around here lately, but I managed to narrow down my favorites from this week to the top five. Here we go…
My son and I made Mix and Match Mama’s Orange Spice Cookies for the first time a few days ago – and they’ve definitely become a new favorite! I knew just looking at the recipe that they’d be yummy, but I didn’t expect them to disappear from the cookie jar quite so fast. If you have any spare time this weekend, you must make these – I promise you’ll love them! The recipe uses a cake mix as a base, so it’s a fairly simple one to put together quickly. We may be making another batch tomorrow!
I feel like I might be a bit late to the utility vest party, but when I walked by this version that Target rolled out for spring I decided to throw it in my cart and join in the fun. I feel like some vests I’ve tried in the past have kind of swallowed me up (I’m 5’2 and a half – that “half” is important to me ;)), but I think I can pull this one off. I like that it hits just below the hips and has an adjustable drawstring waist for a more tailored fit. I paired it with my lace hem striped shirt to add a hint of girliness to the look, but it also works great over a black long sleeve tee for an edgier vibe.
Have you been following the adventures of The Piano Guys over on their YouTube Channel? My kids love them, so when we got last-minute tickets to their concert it made for a perfect family outing. If you’re unfamiliar, they do mash-ups of classical pieces with modern-day music and film themselves playing in epic locations, like on top of The Great Wall of China. Just to clarify, that’s ON TOP of The Great Wall of China, playing a PIANO and a CELLO. I’d love to see the behind the scenes footage on exactly how they pulled that off. These guys are crazy talented, funny story-tellers, and full of gratitude for their success. And I love that they managed to weave a very inspirational message into their show about what can happen when hard work, patience and finding your passion come together.
I’ve always been one to gravitate towards anything peach, but since starting this blog a few weeks ago I have to admit that I’ve become somewhat peach-obsessed. Just ask my teenage daughter, who had to wait for me several times while we shopped together with this week as I oohed and aahed over all of the little peach treasures I found (to her credit, she was very patient with me). I usually stick to my tried and true Sweet Pea lotion when Bath and Body Works has a sale, but their Pretty as a Peach line smells scrumptious and is going to be my new favorite scent for spring!
We walked by this Too Faced display and what really caught my attention is the fact this eyeshadow palette actually smells like peaches. Say what?! My daughter informed me that they also have a chocolate palette that smells like, well, chocolate, so I guess it’s kind of their thing. The shadow colors are pretty great, too. Lots of neutrals to pick from and a few bold colors to play around with as well. Click on the link below the picture to see all of the different shades up close!
I felt like this lipstick at the Mac Counter was calling my name… literally! Peach Blossom is from their Cremesheen line, which translates into a subtle shimmer when applied. It’s a new favorite of mine to wear alone for a natural look, or over my other favorite shade – Syrup – to add a bit of shine.
I’ve been putting together outfits for my upcoming beach vacation, and I’ve officially decided that this one is a favorite. The wrap is going to be perfect for throwing over my shoulders at night if it gets chilly, and I love the turquoise pendant against the black maxi dress. I always wear wedges with maxi dresses to give me a little extra height, and this pair is lightweight and comfy to walk around in. As an added bonus, they’ll look cute with my white skinny jeans and shorts, so I’ll save some room in my suitcase. For more outfit inspiration, check out my Must-Have Pieces for a Beach Vacation.
I love reading all of your comments, so don’t be shy! Scroll down and tell me about some of your favorites from this week!
