Friday Favorites: Focus on Fitness
I’m so excited to be linking up with Erika, Andrea and Narci today for another edition of Friday Favorites! I’m changing it up a little this week and focusing on some of my Fitness Favorites, starting with the absolute best running shoes I’ve ever owned. I suffered a pretty painful foot injury about this time last year, and after a few weeks of rest I was ready to get out and start running again, but my old shoes just weren’t supportive enough. I figured I didn’t have anything to lose and decided to put New Balance’s claims of “dynamic cushioning” in their Fresh Foam shoe to the test – and my feet have been happy ever since. If you’re a runner or do a lot of high-impact cardio and you’ve been needing a new pair of shoes, the New Balance Fresh Foam are definitely worth a try.
While we’re talking shoes, the Skechers Go Step is my favorite pair to wear to the gym for pilates class, strength training, or working out on the elliptical. According to the Skechers’ website, these shoes are equipped with a “Goga Plus+ footbed with SQUISH technology” – a fancy way of saying that they are really, really comfy.
Working our way up from the feet, my favorite capri leggings all have a couple of things in common: 1) they stay in place – no annoying tugging necessary half-way through your work-out and 2) they keep their stretch and hold up to frequent washings. Oh, and they’re pretty cute, too. Especially the criss-crossed pair!
Athleta makes some of the best work out tanks – these have the perfect amount of built-in support and are great for everything from a yoga class to cardio.
When I’m in the mood to wear a work-out tee rather than a tank, these are some of my favorites. Pair them up with one of the sports bras below, and you’re good to go.
My favorite fitness accessories include headbands that live up to their promise to stay put, hair elastics that keep your ponytail from drooping, and a fabulous set of wireless earbuds that don’t disappoint on quality or sound. I got the Jaybird Freedom headphones for Christmas a few years ago, and they are still going strong. If you’re like me and you require music to keep you motivated during a work-out, but can’t deal with the annoyance of a wire getting in your way, check the Jaybirds out.
