Fashion Tips: Comfy Meets Cute

Comfy Meets Cute

When I’m hanging out around the house during the day trying to cross all of the to-do’s off my list – paying the bills, tidying up, cooking, folding yet another load of laundry – I’m all about being as comfy as possible. In the winter months, that usually equals leggings, slippers and cozy pullovers, but if I know that I’ll be heading out at some point during the day for errands, an appointment, lunch with a friend or a meeting at one of the kids’ schools, then I try to start my day off with a comfy “base layer” – something that I can quickly turn into a cute outfit by adding just a few accessories.

So, here I am hanging out at home in jeans, a basic sweater and my fuzzy slippers. It should be mentioned that these jeans are by far the most comfortable pair of skinny jeans I’ve ever owned. They have lots of stretch, keep their shape and are the perfect medium wash color. I highly recommend trying on a pair if you’re in the market.

To quickly get ready for the outside world, I added a fun plaid, fringed scarf…

and ditched the slippers for my go-to taupe booties (they have a tassels, too!)…

That’s it – a few accessories and comfy meets cute in five minutes flat. It’s so much easier for me to start with a base layer and add to it, rather than have to deal with a head-to-toe outfit change before heading out the door. I know you love your tassels. Since I’ve retired, I dress in a lot of workout clothes when I go out. Not the tacky sweats variety. (They are reserved for a day at home) They make so many pieces of stylish workout wear that you can go out and feel cute and still be comfortable. I pair my workout pants with my go to knee high black boots and a pair of earrings. Off I go.

Great idea! Sound like a future blog post! I’m hoping to make Comfy Meets Cute a regular feature around here…
